North Cyprus Holidays

So, you’ve chosen The Hideaway Club as the finest north Cyprus hotel for your vacation, but what are you going to do while there? Northern Cyprus has something for everyone: whether you want to be active or just relax and watch the world go by. The island is rich with remarkable historical sites, such as St Hilarion Castle, the remains of the Roman city Salamis, Bellapais Abbey, Buffavento Castle and Kantara castle – to list only a handful. And that’s not even mentioning the fascinating towns of Nicosia, Famagusta and Kyrenia; which boasts an astonishingly beautiful harbour. The island is also home to natural beauty everywhere you turn. The Karpas peninsula is a place where time stands still, with breathtakingly beautiful and deserted beaches, as well as wild and untamed scenery.

There are, however, no historical monuments to see in Northern Cyprus. There are a plethora of shopping opportunities – and those who are daring can go karting, mountain jogging excursions, beautiful walking routes, boat trips, horse riding, paragliding and every other water sport imaginable.

The Mediterranean’s warm, crystal-clear seas provide fantastic opportunities for diving and snorkeling, and north Cyprus has a number of internationally approved dive centres where you can explore the aquatic world with a ‘try-dive.’ Experienced divers can explore all sorts of undersea features, like wrecks, caves and cliffs. For those who would rather stay out of the water, there are plenty of activities to enjoy on the surface as well – from relaxing on a pedalo to excited water-skiing. If you’re looking for something more low-key, take a boat trip along the coast; you can tan and enjoy a delicious lunch of freshly caught fish!

For those who want some therapy, north Cyprus has lots of options. Gold and silver jewelry may be a great deal, as they are frequently sold only on the basis of weight. The covered market in Nicosia is well worth seeing, especially if your senses are overwhelmed by a rainbow of colors and aromas. Crossing into the south part of Cyprus with an EC passport is simple; most major stores are available there. There are no ‘duty-free’ restrictions on the south of Cyprus since it is now part of the EU. Keep your receipts handy!

The Hideaway Club Hotel’s staff knows a great deal about the area and will do everything possible to make sure you enjoy your stay. We would be happy to provide suggestions or tips and can help by arranging car hire, booking local tours or excursions.
