The launch of the Kyrenia Mountain Trail

03/04/2008

We are pleased to announce the launch of the Kyrenia Mountain Trail, a wonderful new 143 mile/ 230km trail across the whole coast of Northern Cyprus, one of the last areas in the Mediterranean yet untouched by mass tourism.

The mountain trail runs along the tops of the whole range at an average of 2,000/2,500ft. Passing through miles of unspoilt nature, there is the famous wild donkey sanctuary, a profusion of bird life and in spring carpets of wild flowers and orchids. The trail also passes by three stunning Crusader Castles, a Maronite Monastery, Coptic Churches, Roman and Byzantine settlements - a complete distillation of all the different civilisations which have enjoyed Cyprus in its colourful past.

The Kyrenia Mountain Trail Association is a group of volunteers who have undertaken to create this new sustainable tourism project to promote walking and mountain biking, based on the Kyrenia Mountain Range. The trail which follows the Karpaz, Kyrenia and Besparmark mountain ranges has been way marked from ’Cape to Cape’ with over 600 way marks. The Association has created a public web site www.kyreniamountaintrail.org which provides very detailed downloadable maps, profiles and GPS coordinates plus links to all providers of activities on this remarkable trail.

We believe that this is a first in terms of Eco Tourism and our aim is to make a difference and benefit poor local communities with quality tourism in a way that general tourism usually doesn’t. Village bread making, olive pressing, donkey rides all contribute to making a fascinating area even more interesting.

The Romans called this area ‘Heaven on Earth’ - we would love to share it with you.

Haymaker shows north Cyprus affinity

31/03/2008

The WBA and WBC Cruiserweight Champion and north Cyprus resident, David Haye, claimed the WBO world title on Saturday with a second round knock out of Enzo Maccarinelli.

What would have been apparent to Turkish viewers on the night were not only the three belts he adorned in triumphant fashion, but also the Turkish Cypriot flag which was embroidered on one side of his shorts.

Haye’s love for north Cyprus has long been known even though the fighter likes to keep a low profile in his apartment in Ozankoy. He has previously commented that the tranquility and climate of the island makes for a perfect place to train.

Haye is the second british fighter to parade the Turkish Cypriot flag on international TV after British Criuserweight Champion, Mark Hobson did the same in October last year. He is now expected to step up to the heavyweight division in order to realise his ambition of winning more world titles.

POOLSAN

Chlorine Free Swimming Pool Treatment

10/08/2007

“PoolSan” is a saturated complex ionic aqueous solution containing copper, silver, zinc, aluminium and gold. The microscopic action of these natural mineral ions with the algae and bacteria are twofold. First, the algae and bacteria in the water are destroyed through a change in their enzyme processes as the ions break down their DNA structures and cell walls. Secondly, all these charged particles floc together so they can be trapped by a filter. The ions maintain a stable “PoolSan” residual in the water until they are used up by this process.

The advantages and desired effect of this pool treatment solution will be to improve the quality of the swimming pool water and drastically reduce the exposure of swimmers and lifeguards to chlorine and its irritating and harmful effects such as asthmatic conditions.

ANFORA Shopping Centre ready for business, ahead of schedule

02/02/2007

Over one million sq. ft. of shopping space in the largest single retail development in Northern Cyprus

Located on the main road in Iskele, the Anfora (Amphora) Shopping Centre is nearing the final stages of completion with forty seven tenants already open on site and the 22,000 sq. ft. Marda Supermarket, a multi-screen cinema, a Bowling Alley and a further one hundred and fifty shops to open very soon.

The developers report that Phase 1 of the development, which was originally due for completion in July of 2007, is well ahead of schedule and is now open. Phase 2 of the massive project, which is due for completion in June 2008, is also well ahead of plan; and Phase 3, timed to open in July 2009 is developing at a pace to open at least six months early.

The one million square foot development, which will eventually contain well over two hundred different retail outlets, will also feature a 20,000 sq. ft. 2001 Homestore, branches of four major banks, a variety of bars, snack bars and restaurants, a cultural centre and a 4,000 sq. ft. nursery school with full family facilities. There will also be parking available for thousands of cars.

Many well known North Cyprus traders have either reserved trading units, or are already open for business; additionally, many Turkish and International retail ‘brands’ will soon be tempting shoppers at Anfora. The developers say that investors are being offered a superb and secure deal that offers a guaranteed lease of 10 years, returns of initial 15% per annum, upward only rent reviews every 3 years of 10%, assured capital appreciation and a staged payment plan until final completion.
