Famagusta Northern Cyprus

The city of Famagusta, in contrast to Kyrenia’s ‘Britishness,’ offers a taste of the more Levantine flavor of eastern Cyprus. The ancient walled city of Famagusta, which is located on the island’s eastern shore and provides a fascinating glimpse into history; where artisans continue to create a range of jewelry, copper and ceramic goods.

The magnificent Lala Mustafa Pasha Mosque is found in the town, as well as several other historical gems. Some of Northern Cyprus’ finest and quietest beaches are located nearby, and Famagusta is conveniently located near the beginning of the Karpas Peninsula’s wild and unspoiled beauty – a destination where you’re more likely to see a few wild donkeys than other tourists!

Salamis, a Roman city and capital of Cyprus, is located to the north of Famagusta. This is acknowledged as one of the world’s most important archaeological sites, having served as Cyprus’ capital in ancient times. The tomb of St Barnabas with its interesting icon museum is only a short distance away.

The Hideaway Club is located about an hour’s drive west of Famagusta, and it is possible to visit the town while touring the Karpaz.
